Warm up (5 minutes)
Play "Stop and go": children walk while the drum beats and freeze when it stops.
Main activities (20 to 25 minutes)
- 1Show each action card, say the word and do the action together.
- 2Play Simon says with stand, sit, clap and jump. Go slowly at first.
- 3Give one instruction to one child at a time: "Amara, bring me the ball."
- 4Let children take turns being the leader who gives a command.
- 5Mix in classroom routines: line up, sit on the mat, put your hands on your knees.
Closing circle (5 minutes)
Ask the class to follow three quick commands in a row and celebrate good listening.
Extra support
Show the picture card while you say the word, and do the action with the child.
Stretch
Give two step instructions: "Stand up and touch your nose."
